The 2016 intercollegiate has come and gone. In the men football competition, COLENG lifted up the trophy as they beat their
counterpart from COLPHYS. It was an interesting match this afternoon. Both teams showcased their talent on the pitch today. The match was cooled in the first half of the game as colphys player was brought down closed to do box area the freekick could have given colphys a leading goal but it was punched out by coleng goalkeeper.
In the 23rd minutes of play, Coleng had a corner which was converted into the back of the net though colphys players waited for the referee to rule out the goal as offsides but he said the ball was actually a goal. The first half ended on a 1-0 in favour of coleng.
The second half of the match, both teams were Optimistic especially colphys has the determination to clear the debt of the lone goal but they couldn't get the goal. In the second half of the match colphys dominated mostly as coleng fully played a defensive game as just a player was remained in front. The team colphys were able to break into the defence line of coleng. The goalkeeper of coleng Frank made some interesting saves . COLPHYS were not able to record a shot on target but most shots were off target.
In addition, substitution was made by coleng in the 75th minutes of play this boosted the morale of coleng to just get a single goal more to seal up the match but it was an offside. The center referee blew the final whistle as coleng team won 2016 intercollegiate men football.
Speaking with the goalkeeper of coleng, Frank he said, there is nothing to say but they just deserved the victory and he was happy to see his team mate lifting the trophy, in addition to his word he said the last time they got to final, the team was beaten then as they were the runner up. He congratulated his teammates for the success.
In my conversation with the team coach of colphys though they actually played a nice game and his players played well but they eventually lost the cup.
