NANS 2016: WHO BECOMES THE NO 1 STUDENT IN NIGERIA

With just few weeks to the national covention let take a review of the aspirants.

In the 1970s, the National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS) was founded. Few years after, in the year 1980, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) was founded to replace the now defunct National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS).

The main aim of the Association is to protect the interest of Nigerian Students but that hasn’t been so in recent years as there has been increasing level of corruption and widening gap between the Students and NANS executive officers.

Although the current President of NANS Tijani Usman inherited an association with integrity problems, indiscipline, selfish alliance, and a partisan interest; not much was done to address these problems since inception last year.

As another election drew nearer, many Aspirants have shown interest to occupy the students’ number one post. The next president is expected to come from Zone B axis of the association which is made up of all higher institutions in the South South and South East region of the country.

Meanwhile, mudslinging name calling, blackmail and social media wars have suddenly become handy tools in the battle.
Nevertheless, 8 strong Aspirants have shown interest to contest for the presidency. Let’s meet them:
