LAGOS STATE ACTION ON STREET TRADERS AND HAWKERS
The largest industrious city in Nigeria took out Lawfull actions against street trading and street hawking within the metropolis.

This action has seriously raised discontent within the heart and mind of most lagosian affected leaving them with a major question "HOW DO WE SURVIVE"....

From my perspective this issue needs to be treated with great care and understanding. First, it is well know that so many things are wrong in this country, For example: According to some Analysts they classified human wants into three(3) terms namely:
FOOD, CLOTHING AND SHELTER many of which most Nigerian lack or probably don't have complete.

In an attempt to fix things and stop waiting fruitlessly upon a system of government that show little or no concern about the welfare of it's citizens, some industrious citizens took up the responsibility to survive there by taking to the streets of Lagos to sell material for their survival.

Through this motive an average Nigerian could afford to meet the three basic needs of life for survival, many even used this motive in sending most of their children to school thereby attaining a reasonable level of education...

A medical doctor who works in a General Hospital not too far from my House expressed his discontent when he saw the state government motive. He said his mother had to sell cloth at the street of Lagos to send him through medical school when his father died. Today he is a chief surgeon at the General Hospital and the mother seriously proud of her son whom she laboured for. It wouldn't have been possible if street trading wasn't an option for the mother to venture into.

Further more,  looking at this perspective also i would also say the government is right. Many parents expose their children to street trading while they sit and enjoy the Profit made by their children from street hawking, many also deprive the young ones from going to school while some see it as a mean of punishment to the young one which is very bad. Have also heard of cases of RAPE, ROBBERY, CHILD TRAFFICKING et al all as a result from street trading and Hawking. The question remains "WHAT CAN BE DONE"... how can we end street trading without affecting the SURVING means of most Lagosian.

In conclusion,  the solution isn't far fetched.

1. The government should improve their act towards the welfare of its citizens making it a priority
2. Government should ensure that the basic needs of man are reasonably met and provided for.
3. Government should ensure adequate facilities are provided before disembarking citizens from certain action or activities... With this a better LAGOS will emerge stating equality for all... GOD BLESS LAGOS
